You Are His Priority

"When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them and healed their sick." Matthew 14:14

The Lord never wants to think about Himself or do something in a selfish manner. For Him, the people of this world are so important and He always gives His first priority to them. You might ask me, "Benjamin, how about His Father's will? Don't you think that doing His Father's will is the first priority?" My friend, people are so important even for the Heavenly Father. People are always in the Father's will and people are the only reason for the Heavenly Father to send His only Son, Lord Jesus Christ into this world to redeem them.

Is it true that the Lord never thinks about Himself but He puts people (souls) as His first priority? Let us together discover the truth! The truth can be found in the story of Jesus Feeds The Five Thousand (Matthew 14:13-21). In this story, it is mentioned that the Lord Jesus went to a solitary place privately before the miracle of feeding the thousands took place (Matthew 14:13). In the first place, why did the Lord decide and go to the solitary place privately? The Bible says, "When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place." Matthew 14:13a. The Word says that He heard something and that's the reason He wants to be alone. What did the Lord hear?

The Lord heard of very sad news of John the Baptist who was beheaded by Herod's instruction (Read Matthew 14:1-12). John the Baptist was related to Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 1:36). The news about His close relative truly grieved the Lord and He was truly sad for what had taken place. This is the reason; the Lord withdrew Himself and wanted to be alone. Anyone in His place could have done the same thing. But the Lord has done something extraordinary even in His saddest period of life.

He wanted to be alone and grief over the loss of His relative, John the Baptist. But did He really have time for Himself even to grief? No, before He landed at the solitary place, the people already knew where He was going, "Hearing of this, the crowds followed Him by on foot from the towns." Matthew 14:13b. And by the time the Lord landed at the solitary place a big crowd was already waiting for Him there, "When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd…" Matthew 14:14. When He saw the large crowds He was still in sadness and grief over the loss of John the Baptist. But even when He was in that situation, the Lord didn't say something like this to them, "People I'm very sad today and I have no mood to minister to all of you. Come back some other time and please leave me alone now". No, He never said that…

But the Bible says, "When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them and healed their sick." Matthew 14:14. He didn't push them aside but His heart was for the people, "He had compassion on them". He pushed aside His own sadness and feelings but reached out and touched them, "healed their sick". What a Man Jesus was. He never thought of Himself but only people. He gave first priority to the people. Today, His priority still is for people like you and me. You might be thinking that you are not important but the truth is you are so important and precious in the eyes of the Lord. Never once think that the Lord Jesus does not care for you. That's the lie of the enemy. You are His priority.
