"For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." Romans 14:17
I heard many people say this verse to me, "Seek first His kingdom..." Matthew 6:33. I wondered how to seek His kingdom and what is it all about in His kingdom? I used to think that the kingdom of God is doing some religious activities.
In my confusion one day the Lord ministered to me about "Seeking His kingdom". God says, "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." Romans 14:17. It is stated very clearly in this verse about His kingdom and what are the elements that we should pursue to seek His kingdom. The kingdom of God is seeking His righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Seek His righteousness means believing that you're the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. This righteousness is not about something good that you have done but it's all about what He has done on the cross to make you righteous in God. No matter what you have done in the past, believe that His finished work has brought forgiveness and made you righteous in God and you're cleansed by His blood. Besides that, seek His peace daily by believing that He has paid a big price on the cross for you. The Lord said, "Peace be with you" John 20:19, to His disciples when He appeared for the first time after His resurrection. It means His resurrection and His return brought great peace to His disciples. Today, in the same way the Lord is saying to you, "My Child, be in my peace for I know you and I have paid everything for you". Dearest, even if everything is going wrong in your life right now, you can be rest assured and be in His peace by knowing His resurrection power will overcome all your sickness, poverty and whatever problems that you can name.
Finally, seek His kingdom by having great joy in the Lord. If you want to seek His joy, firstly you must trust Him and let go of all your burdens and troubles to Him. Exchange your burdens with the Lord and receive His joy in your heart. The true meaning of seeking His joy is to live a worry-free life. I'm not asking you to be in joy blindly but I'm saying, be in great joy by knowing He is alive and He is with you all the time. By doing these three major things you are seeking His Kingdom. My friend, seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
