He Made You For A Purpose

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

Who am I? What is the purpose of my life? Am I here in this world by chance? You might be asking all these questions to yourself. I believe it is not a coincidence for you to hear from God this morning. Likewise, it is not an accident for you to be born into this world. You may not exactly be called by God like Jeremiah's calling. There must be a lot of differences between you and the Prophet Jeremiah in terms of personality, history, language and calling. But God formed you in the womb like how He formed Jeremiah, and He knew you as how He knew the prophet Jeremiah before his birth.

He knew you with His tender love as Creator and with His forgiving love as Redeemer. Christ's death and resurrection is available for you. And before you were born, He set you apart as how He set the prophet apart. That is what "holy" means, set apart for God's calling. Baptized in the Trinity God, you have been set apart for Him. He may not have called you to be a prophet or pastor but definitely He has called you as one who speaks forth His Word in your daily life and as a vessel to show His great love to the people around you. What a calling, indeed! The Bible says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5.

He thought about you and planned everything for you. You were created and formed by His loving hands. If you are God's creation, definitely you are not a defect. When you feel discouraged or inadequate, remember that God has always thought of you as valuable and that He has a purpose in mind for you. No doubt that you are one of His greatest assets to be used in His kingdom. Never look down on yourself by any means. Stop saying, "I'm good for nothing and I'm useless" but say something like this to build you up, "I'm a potential for God to be used in His kingdom".

Dearest, do you know that God put something special in you that others don't have? Ask God to reveal it to you and use it for His glory. Remember, each one of us was created for a purpose; you and I are not an accident to be here in this world. Live a life to the standard that He has called you to live. You're special and there is a destiny for your life.
