"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many." Mark 10: 45.
Sometimes we question the Lord when things don't go our way with anger and frustration. But have you ever asked Him, "Why Lord" for all the good things and sacrifices that He has done for us? My friend, do you really understand what the Lord has done for you and me? You can forget anything in this life but you cannot forget the ONE who gave up everything for your benefit.
The Lord laid aside His majesty for you and me. The Bible says, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45. He is the Owner of heaven and earth and His riches are countless. He is perfect without any sin in Him and He is mighty in power. He can do anything and He can have anything just by His spoken words. Yet the Lord gave up everything and stepped in to this sinful world in the appearance of a servant.
What is the meaning of, "give His life as a ransom for many"? The meaning of ransom here is exchange or payment for the release of someone. So when the Bible says, "give His life as a ransom for many" it is actually saying that, "He exchanged His life and whatever He owns with you and me." In other words the Lord took your place and willingly gave up His place for you.
You may ask, "What kind of exchange took place between the Lord and me?" He exchanged something that no one could ever exchange with you and me. He took our place of unrighteousness and gave His very righteousness to us to enable us to become righteous, "He made Him, who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Corinthians 6:21. You are righteous today not because of your own good work but it was the willingness of our Lord Jesus Christ to exchange His place of righteousness with your unrighteousness.
He took your place and carried all your sicknesses upon Himself and died on the Cross of Calvary. He is perfect and without any sicknesses on His body but He was willing to go through all the suffering. He was beaten up and His body was terribly broken when He die on the Cross, just to give His divine health to you and me to make us well again, "But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:5.
Dearest, when you are in the Lord and believe what He has done for you, then you will have everything that you need, more than enough. It is because the Lord gave up everything that belongs to Him for your sake. Believe in Him and receive whatever that He has given to you freely.
